Let’s celebrate the new baby you can’t wait to meet!
While it’s a very exciting time, it’s very common for you to be nervous about having your pictures taken. Your maternity photos might be your first professional photography session since your wedding. Naturally, you might feel uncomfortable about your close-ups. In fact, it’s pretty common for one or both partners to feel nervous about the session.
I want you to know that these feelings are common. My goal is for you and your partner to feel excited about your maternity session.
Here are 5 recommendations to help you and your partner feel at ease during your maternity photoshoot.
1. Choose Outfits You Love
For both of you, choose outfits that you love and are comfortable wearing. Knowing that you look good in those outfits is a great start for both of you to feel comfortable during your session. My clients have access to my maternity wardrobes, accessories and props as part of their portrait experience. So if you would like to check out what I have, feel free to let me know.
2. Pamper Yourself
I highly recommend pampering yourself before the session. You definitely deserve it. Plus, having your hair and makeup done will help you feel beautiful and ready to be in front of the camera. If you would like professional hair and makeup service for you and your partner, our team can provide that with additional charge. Have your nails done as there will be some close up shots of your hands on your belly.
3. Focus on the Baby Bump and your Partner.
If you and your partner feel nervous about being the center of attention, don’t worry. Your beautiful baby bump is the star of the show during your session. All you need to do is focus on your love and excitement for your baby, and you’ll feel your nerves melt away.
Also, I find that if you and your partner focus on each other, you can feel more relaxed and calm. In fact, during the session, I usually encourage you to interact with each other. You will definitely hear prompts like “Look at each other”, “Look at the belly”, etc. During the session, all you need to do is show love to each other and of course your belly.
4. Share Any Feelings with Your Photographer
Please share any feelings you and your partner have about your session with me. Or if you prefer to have which side of your face facing the camera. I’m happy to know about these things so that I can fully support you and your partner during the session.
5. Choose a Photographer You Love
Finally, choose a photographer that you’re excited to work with. Look for one whose style you love so you know you’ll be happy with the photos. Collaborating with a photographer that you love and trust will help you and your partner feel calmer for the session.
